Coaching is often best described as facilitated self-reflection. A coach acts as a human mirror to help you uncover your most cherished values and goals in life. In coaching conversations, a coach may support you in a variety of ways, such as asking questions, engaging in reflective dialogue, and/or offering guided visualizations. This process is intended to help you in self-discovery and in taking actionable steps towards your desired goals.
In a coaching call, we will focus on a topic of your choosing, such as a current struggle or goal. As your coach, I will support you as you deepen your exploration of each topic in a meaningful way. At the end of each session, you will leave with action steps and/or key takeaways.
As a coach, my style is patient, kind, and supportive. I bring a strong presence and attentive listening. I believe in providing a balance between head and heart. Fundamental to my coaching style is the nurturing of each person's self-efficacy and self-compassion.
While my coaching practice is primarily focused on supporting women physicians, I warmly welcome individuals from all backgrounds who resonate with the reflections or values shared on these pages. If you feel drawn to the work that I do and believe we might be a good fit, please reach out or schedule a free intro call. I would love to connect and explore together how I can be of support to you as your coach.
No, coaching is not therapy.
Therapy typically focuses on processing and healing emotional traumas or addressing mental health concerns that are causing significant distress and/or negatively impacting a person’s ability to function and fulfill work/life tasks. This type of care is provided by a mental health professional.
While therapy and coaching can occasionally feel similar depending on the techniques and modalities used, coaching is specifically geared towards facilitating one’s goals and potential.
Coaching does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions. If it becomes evident that therapy would be beneficial, either in place of or in addition to coaching, I will be happy to provide any available resources or referrals.
No, coaching is not the same as life advice.
As a coach, I will support you and sometimes guide you to access your own inner wisdom, insights, values, and goals with more clarity. This process is intended to help unlock one’s potential to construct a more fulfilling life. A coach does not advise or instruct a client on what actions to take. Clients are responsible for any life decisions they ultimately make.
No, coaching is not medical advice or counseling. Coaching does not constitute or establish a physician-patient relationship. Coaching also does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of any medical or psychological conditions.
